COMMERCE CITY, Colo – Colorado Rapids 2 has extended the loan of Honduran midfielder Antony García from Costa Rican side FC Moravia, the club announced today. García will remain with the Rapids 2 until at least the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season.
“Anthony is an exciting player who showed his ability for our club last season,” said Brian Crookham, Colorado Rapids Director of Player Personnel. “We are excited to have him back and continue to foster his growth within the Rapids development system.”
García made 18 appearances for Rapids 2 in his first season at the club, making 11 appearances and logging 1,045 minutes. The Honduras scored six goals in that period, ranking second for the club in the 2024 season. On July 14, in a game against North Texas SC, García earned MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Matchweek honors for the first time in his career.
The 20-year-old midfielder is in his second season in Colorado on loan from Costa Rican second division side FC Moravia. Prior to his time at Rapids 2, García was loaned out to Honduran side FC Motagua for the 2022-23 Liga Nacional Apertura season. During his time with the First Division club, he made six appearances and added two assists.
Before joining Motagua, García spent time at CDS Vida, signing his first professional contract at the age of 16. García appeared in 41 games for the club, totaling three goals and two assists. ‚ ‚
Garcia also shared his experiences at youth international level in his native Honduras. The midfielder made his international debut on 19 June 2022 during the Concacaf U-20 Championship, making his debut for both the U-23 and U-20 national teams. Garcia has made a total of seven international appearances and recorded one assist in 260 minutes of play.
