If it wasn’t obvious over the past 18 seasons, Kody Brown made it clear once again on Sunday night.
He’s really no good.
In the latest episode of Sister Wives, Cody looks back on his three failed marriages and doesn’t hold back on his most extreme criticism of his ex-wife, Mary.
For example, after learning that Mary had gone to church and asked to be formally “released” from their spiritual union, Brown admitted that their romance lacked “a lot of wisdom,” saying in a snarky, profound way:
“When we got married, I didn’t know who she was. She was so different.
“I think Mary had some baggage that she didn’t know she had at first. I thought she could live with it… I couldn’t live in a world where she was constantly angry at me.”
Cody and Mary were married in 1994, but after divorcing in 2010, Cody married Robyn Brown and was able to legally adopt his children from his previous marriage.
However, the two continued to stay together, no longer sleeping together, and eventually broke up in January 2023.
Cody said he disagreed with Mary’s decision to go to church, explaining that “the damage has been done” and that he “doesn’t want to be responsible for this church and all their bullshit.”
The selfish father of 17 children explained that men in polygamous households “have no choice since they are already married.”
“In a plural marriage, if he wants to remain faithful and stay in the faith, he can’t ask for a divorce,” Cody said. “It’s not allowed. That’s why I couldn’t get out of that relationship.”
that ~was But you could act like a complete idiot and force Mary to make this decision.
“At the same time, I didn’t necessarily want to walk away from that relationship. I wanted to see if we could save it and fix it,” Cody continued on the show.
“Well, there was a whole nuance of, we’re going to figure out our relationship. There were a lot of times when I was with her where I thought, well, for a fresh start, we’re going to figure this out.”
But Cody never gave the job a chance.
He added that Mary was “very kind, funny, unfriendly and uninteresting.”
“I’m trying to be curious about her and I’m bored, so to be fair, I think Mary feels abandoned,” Cody told viewers.
In the Season 19 premiere, Mary made her position clear when their relationship ended, saying that Cody tried to push her out of their marriage.
“Honestly, I feel bad for him,” Mary added of her ex-husband.
Of course, Cody is now married only to Robin.
His other three spouses eventually realized how one-sided their relationships had been and left, leaving Cody to play the victim.
And he confessed that he didn’t feel much affection for any of them.
“I didn’t kick myself out. Kristen, Janelle, and Mary all chose to have me out of the house,” Cody continued in the new episode.
“Now, I’m not trying to play the victim card. I’m just saying that’s just the way it is.
“No matter how much I love them, I will never leave them.”
