Christian Pulisic’s stellar season at AC Milan continued on Tuesday. The American midfielder scored the Olimpico goal in a Champions League match.
In the 34th minute of Milan’s match against Belgian club Brugge, Pulisic’s stunning corner kick beat several players and went straight to the goal. The score gave Milan an early 1-0 lead over Brugge.
The Olimpico marked Pulisic’s seventh goal for Milan in all competitions in just 11 games. He is also tied for first on the team with three assists.
Shortly after Pulisic’s goal, Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika was sent off with a red card after making a studs-up tackle. An additional player and Pulisic’s goal gave Milan the advantage in the second half.
The skilful, somewhat out-of-the-box goal helped lead the USMNT and new coach Mauricio Pochettino to victory last weekend, but came at an odd time for Pulisic, who left the US camp early to return to his club. The star-less USMNT lost 2-0 to Mexico. Meanwhile, Pulisic helped Milan to a tough 1-0 win over Udinese on October 19 and is now playing a key role for the team in the UCL.
Ahead of this match, Milan is ranked 4th in Serie A, having won 4 of the last 5 games. The team was 0-2 in Champions League play heading into Tuesday’s game. Brugge was 1-1.
