Chris Hayes told Tucker Carlson to “get some therapy” after the former Fox News host used an incredibly absurd analogy to defend Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
At a rally for the Republican candidate on Wednesday, Carlson likened Trump to a father who decided to give his “bad daughter” a “hard spanking” to get her house in order. “There has to be a point when daddy comes home,” Carlson said.
“Get treatment first,” Hayes said on his MSNBC show Thursday, placing his hand over his mouth and whispering the advice in a sing-song tone.
“Second: This isn’t one of those creepy fantasies or weird right-wing podcasts about disgraced TV personalities with in-universe mommy issues,” he continued. “He said that on a national stage as part of his Republican presidential campaign. It’s a warm-up for the man a jury of his peers found guilty of sexual assault after Donald Trump defamed a woman who said he raped her in her locker room.
“The Republican Party is now running a very blatant male-dominated campaign. “Trump is your dad.”
“And he is ready to put all the nasty women he calls in their place,” he added.
Both Trump and Carlson have well-documented records of making creepy, misogynistic and perverted comments about women. Carlson, who sparked hate during her tenure at Fox News, once described women as “very primitive” and “dog-like.”
Trump, who will face Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 primary, has repeatedly launched racist and sexist attacks against the Democrat, questioning her intelligence and racial identity.
The conservative network parted ways with Carlson last year after settling a defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million over his dishonest reporting of the 2020 election.
