One of the better matches of the round looks set to take place between Chiefs and Brumbies on Saturday evening AEST.
Chiefs were a team formed in New Zealand heading into the decider, but perhaps unsurprisingly, the Crusaders’ superior experience proved to be the difference towards the end of the season.
Afterwards they deserved to be given favoritism against the Force last week, but were left with a serious scare and will need to improve to beat better opposition, even at home.
The Brumbies were the other Australian team to not be beaten by New Zealand opponents in the first round of the Trans-Tasman tournament, and there was a lot to like about their performance against the champions Crusaders.
I give the Brumbies a real chance to win this match, but since it’s New Zealand I’ll take the safer option.
