The Kansas City Chiefs released defensive lineman Isaiah Burgs on Monday after two recent arrests in Alabama.
Burgs, 27, who signed a $1,292,500 contract with Kansas City for the upcoming season, turned himself in on May 30 after being charged with two misdemeanor counts of second-degree animal cruelty. Two dogs in Buggs’ care were reportedly neglected and malnourished, and one of the dogs had to be euthanized.
According to Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office records, Buggs was arrested on a domestic violence/theft charge June 16 and released on $5,000 bail.
The tremendous tackle from Alabama played three seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers and spent the past two seasons with the Detroit Lions. He started 23 games and played in 56 career games, recording 89 tackles and two sacks.
