I wrote this article before the Ipswich defeat, but it enhances what I say below. But a look at the current Premier League table shows that this isn’t one of the craziest first halves of the season we’ve ever witnessed!?
Nottingham Forest comes second! It wouldn’t be surprising if Liverpool were running away with it right now, but they had literally zero real challengers.
Manchester City were seen as such challengers, but Pep Guardiola decided to have his worst season as a manager and they are eliminated, at least for now. Anyone who completely ignores City would be braver than me.
City are back in 5th place after Sunday’s win, but had previously fallen to 7th!
Another Manchester club, what on earth is going on? They once fell as low as 15th in the league and are now just 14th. Like Chelsea the last few seasons, people were really saying they were going to be relegated! Imagine this.
Arsenal have not performed as well as expected, they have some problems and I get the feeling they are not as good as they have been at the club recently.
Bournemouth have performed very well and have moved up in the league, currently sitting in 6th place. I’m dreading playing against them in a few weeks.
Newcastle United are currently on a good run after a poor start, but sit in 7th place.
Aston Villa, who I was really expecting to finish in at least the top 5 or 6, fell to 9th place.
I don’t even want to look back at my league table position. Because now you’re going to be horribly out!
what’s the matter? That’s the beauty of soccer.
No one expected Chelsea to be in the position we are in now. I recently wrote about clubs like Chelsea that there could be no better opportunity to really do something this season, with other ‘big clubs’ disappearing right now. I think some of the ‘smaller’ clubs are seeing this now and using it as motivation.
And Tottenham is Spurs (11th)… ..Stop it now! Still, there are definitely reasons to smile!
I don’t know what to expect now as we start the next half of the season! But that’s why we all love this game so much!
Let’s go…
