Canterbury has unveiled a new range of Speed Infinite Elite boots, and the series is so impressive that reviewers have described them as ‘electric’ and ‘providing incredible power’. Just as footballers wear football boots, and basketball players wear trainers, rugby players need the right footwear to elevate their game.
Gone are the days of dusting off 10-year-old shoes from the bottom of your boot bag. To stay competitive, you need better gear than your competitors.
That’s where Canterbury’s Speed Infinite Elite boot comes in. Designed with both speed and comfort in mind, it even incorporates AI technology to improve the design. The unisex boot is available in sizes 6–15 and comes in colours including black and yellow, and is also available in kids’ sizes 1–5.5, according to Wales Online.
Known as the lightest boot ever, the Speed Infinite Elite features a design generated using AI to shed as much weight as possible through targeted stitch reinforcement. This is combined with the Vaposkin membrane, which minimises wind resistance while running, ensuring minimal energy loss.
Previous versions of this boot were known for having a bit of room at the sides for those with narrow feet, but this latest model offers a tighter fit, ensuring minimal energy loss and faster acceleration.
This rapid acceleration is further enhanced by Flightbeam technology and a Pebax Powered sole, which focuses all of the energy into throwing the ball over the try line. While this particular set has yet to be reviewed, its predecessor, the Speed Infinite Elite, received high praise from popular rugby YouTube channel Lovell Rugby last year.
While urging viewers to buy the boots, he said: “So this is my playtest review of the Canterbury Speed Elite. That’s what Elite is all about. Canterbury has applied 100 years of history and knowledge to the technical features to make sure they perform when they actually hit your feet.
“And that’s exactly what they’re going to do. They’re going to give you stability when you turn and overall you’re going to feel explosive.”
The full Canterbury Speed Infinite Elite range can be viewed on their website. Prices for the new range start from £150 for adults and £47 for children. They also offer a solid ground boot.
If you’re looking for another pair of boots to add speed, the RS15 Soft Ground Rugby Boots are available from Adidas for £72. These boots follow the Predator series and feature stability wings and ripstop fabric at the rear to maximise speed.
Elsewhere, the Mizuno Alpha Elite MD rugby boot in Laser Blue is incredibly light at 195 grams, which is combined with ENERZY foam to produce more explosive energy.
These boots are available from Lovell Rugby for £150.
