Chuba Hubbard’s season is over.
The Panthers placed their leading rusher on injured reserve with an injured calf Saturday.
Hubbard was limited in Friday’s practice with a knee injury and has been listed as unavailable for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After practice, Hubbard complained of pain and an MRI revealed a grade 2 calf sprain, the team reported.
Hubbard, a native of Sherwood Park, Alta., ran for 1,195 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, fourth most in franchise history. He is sixth in the league in rushing yards.

He becomes the third Panther to return from injured reserve this season, joining Miles Sanders and rookie Jonathan Brooks.
The move means Mike Boone will start Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay, and Raheem Blackshear is also expected to see varsity action.
Hubbard finished the season last week running for 152 yards and two touchdowns, including a 21-yard score in overtime, as the Panthers beat the Arizona Cardinals 36-30. He was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
He also caught 43 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown this season.
