A California man has been indicted by an Atlanta grand jury on charges of threatening Fulton County District Attorney Fanny Willis (D), the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia said in a press release Friday.
Mark Schultz, 66, of Chula Vista, California, reportedly threatened Wills after he prosecuted former President Trump.
Last October, Shultz “allegedly posted multiple comments on two separate YouTube live stream videos.” According to Buchanan’s indictment, he “threatened District Attorney Willis with violence and murder, including the statement that he would be ‘killed like a dog.'” The press release included “other information presented in court.”
“Threats against individuals, whether credible or not, are very serious crimes that the FBI will not tolerate,” said Keri Farley, FBI Special Agent in Charge of Atlanta. “Threats of violence, especially against government officials, threaten the very foundation of our democracy,” she said. We want everyone to know that if you engage in such conduct, you will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
“I believe the life of an African-American elected official is valuable and I am grateful to Prosecutor Ryan Buchanan, his staff, and the FBI for working diligently to ensure the safety of me, my staff, and my family,” Willis said in a statement. Fox 5 Atlanta.
