Frankie Grande is turning evil into a musical number as the flamboyant villain Frankini in Nickelodeon’s “Henry Danger: The Movie,” and he’s bringing his Broadway talents to the superhero franchise now streaming on Paramount+.
He said, “I am truly blessed to be able to play a villain that makes everyone sing and dance.”
Grande’s character, Frankini, is exaggerated, and his flamboyant personality shines through in the film. Grande, who said it is important to spread joy through art, said she hoped the film would provide an escape for audiences going through difficult times.
“I know that as a young queer kid, when my life and the world were chaotic, all I looked to was escapism,” he said.
While playing Frankini, Grande had to perform a challenging musical number during the closing credits. Despite her singing and performing background, Grande found this particular scene difficult after enduring 14 hours of filming.
“We had to film the song three times a day: once for the movie scene, then the final scene of the movie, and then the music video.”
At the end of filming, he was relieved to take off his heels, “out of breath,” but was proud of his performance.
In addition to ‘Henry Danger: The Movie’, Grande also expressed her pride in her younger sister Ariana Grande, who starred in the hit film ‘Wicked’.
Grande said, “I saw it 12 times in the theater.” “I’m incredibly proud of her. As I always say, I would feel the same way about my sister if she had a brother or sister who was a neuroscientist and they won a Nobel Prize.”
Grande is also working on her own music, recording as Frankie Grande rather than Frankini.
He said excitedly, “‘Smile’ is just a small taste.” “I’m so excited that the world will soon be able to taste this product.”
