The wait is over! Super Rygbi Cymru are back as they begin their second block of competition.
The first game of the weekend begins on Friday night when Bridgend Ravens welcome Carmarthen Quins to Dunraven Brewery Field.
There are always exciting sounds whenever you play under the floodlights. Both teams will be looking to start the block with a win as they head into the remainder of the season.
This is an exciting matchup at Bridgend, leaving the door open for four interesting betting options.
Bridgend Ravens
The energy and excitement at Brewery Field is palpable as a solid foundation is being built that will reap rewards for years to come.
Bridgend showed a lot of promise in the opening stages of the competition. In 7 games, they have 3 wins and 4 losses.
Scott Baldwin’s side had two good wins against Swansea and a convincing away win against Aberavon.
On average, they score 24 points per game and give up 30 points. Bridgend are coming off a heavy defeat by Cardiff at the Arms Park.
They boast a wealth of fantastic talent, with Ben Burnell, Ryan Wilkins and captain Zac O’Driscoll playing some promising rugby.
Names like Tom Florence and Evan Hill come to mind, along with some athletes who have made an impact.
Many of these players were run out as part of the Ospreys ‘A’ team. The Ravens have yet to show any signs of being a great team that can make an impact later in the season.
One of the main reasons there is more excitement around the club is the experience and expertise the coaching staff bring.
Scott Baldwin is leading this new era for the Ravens, bringing his expertise home after spending time as a defensive coach with the Newcastle Falcons.
Matthew Jones runs Bridgend’s backline, which has the potential to be very explosive with the help of Matthew Morgan.
Welsh rugby legend Bradley Davies coaches the forwards and has a wealth of experience to impart to the players.
As mentioned earlier, some promising players have joined the team and are poised to achieve notable results soon. The coaching staff will be looking for meaningful results this Friday.
Carmarthen Queens
Carmarthen are in a similar position ahead of Friday night’s clash. Like their opposition, they have won three of the last seven.
They will look to prove the bookmakers wrong on Friday as Carmarthen enter the competition as underdogs.
Carmarthen currently sit in 7th place with 164 points and 221 conceded goals. The team have beaten teams like Pontypool but are losing to Ebbw Vale.
Quins have had some talented players make big strides this year.
Skipper Tom Phillips played well, using all his experience and work rate to make a difference on the pitch.
Another veteran operator who performs well is Aled Thomas. He did a great job pulling the strings on offense.
Louis Rees is an exciting winger with a strong and natural feel for the try line. Carmarthen will have to do their best to upset the odds and beat Bridgend.
bet
There are some interesting betting options to consider for the game. The best bet is for Bridgend to win.
There is a lot of great talent on the team, and they will have the benefit of playing at Brewery Field.
There is value in backing Bridgend to a six-point win or more as the Ravens will be looking for a comfortable win to start their Block 2 campaign.
For those who prefer high-risk, high-reward scenarios, supporting the underdog can be beneficial. Because Carmarthen have enough talent to pull off a big win at home.
best choice: Bridgend wins – 1/2
value bet: Bridgend wins by 6 or more points – 10/11
