Lee Mehr of VGChartz: “While the hefty price point model is hard to swallow even by free-to-play shooter standards, Valorant can be hard to put down. Seasoned gamers will quickly recognize its debts to Counter-Strike and Overwatch, not unlike Family Guy’s Invention of Reese’s skit, but it shouldn’t be ignored how succinctly these mechanical and aesthetic philosophies are melded through Riot’s own due diligence. The combination has a few hiccups that make you question whether it’s an addictive shooter or a great game, but it always speaks in its favor that it’s worth enduring annoying lobbies and the occasional disconnected teammate. As the saying goes, it’s greater than the sum of its rip-off parts.”
