Taskin continues to be consistent across all formats after ending 2024 with 63 international wickets at 19:23, the highest for Bangladesh this year.
After Dhaka decided to bat at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Taskin removed both openers Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan in the first two overs. He lobbed a ripper to Litton who blocked a short ball towards first slip before Tanzid chased the ball wide.
“You need luck to get five. I’m really happy to get seven. It’s a big deal for me. I’m from Bangladesh so I’ll remember holding this BPL record.”

Dhaka recovered in the middle overs before Taskin returned with the wicket of Shahadat Hossain in the 17th over. Shahadat, beaten by a slow ball, holed out to Ryan Burl, who took a sharp catch at long-on. Taskin had Chaturanga de Silva later in the same over before the triple wicket final ended. Alauddin Babu was first to fly clear for one to mid on 20 before Taskin intercepted Mukidul Islam. He missed the hat-trick but took the next ball from Shubham Ranjane and finished with 4-0-19-7.
Too many wickets in the last four overs slowed down Dhaka significantly and Rajshahi were bowled out for a modest 175 runs. They reached the target with seven wickets in hand in 19 overs.
Taskin said it was a proud moment for him to become the bowler with the best figures in the BPL. “I’ve always thought about taking a lot of wickets. If you don’t visualize it, you can’t make it happen. Of course, you need luck to take wickets. I’m glad I was able to execute the plan… when the captain throws me into the attack. “I felt like I could deliver on everything.”
“Getting five wickets in any format is always special,” he added. “I have taken three or four wickets several times. You need luck to get five. I am really happy. It is a big thing for me. I am from Bangladesh so you will remember me holding this BPL record.”
Taskin said he was happy with the type of pitch offered at Shere Bangla National Stadium and that the surface was mostly for sports. “I think there is very little room for error. We can’t get away with beaten deliveries. The pitch is good for the batsmen who only face a bit of a challenge with the new ball. I think a pitch like that will help them in the Champions Trophy. (2 (Mon) We will be playing mostly on good batting tracks in Pakistan and UAE.”
