U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley has pulled off a shock win at the BMW Championship and will enter next week’s Tour Championship ranked fourth.
Bradley, who was named captain of the U.S. team for the 2025 Ryder Cup last month, narrowly missed making the final 50-man roster for the tournament.
The 38-year-old shot an even-par 72 in the final round at Castle Pines on Sunday to finish at 12 under, one stroke ahead of Ludvig Oberg, Sam Burns and Adam Scott, who were tied for second.
Bradley took the lead with a par on the 537-yard, par-4 10th, breaking a tie with Scott, who three-putted for a bogey on the course’s toughest hole.
Oberg, who impressed this week, entered the Tour Championship in fifth place, Burns, who shot the day’s best round of 7-under 65, moved into the top 10 in ninth place, and Scott was 14th.
World No. 1 Scotty Scheffler finished T33 at BMW, but will start next week as the No. 1 seed at 10-under.
Xander Schauffele, who tied for fifth in this tournament, is in second place at eight under par, while Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, who withdrew from the tournament this week with a back injury, is in third place at seven under par.
Rory McRoy will make his sixth start at the Tour Championship after shooting a final-round 71 to finish at six-under, tied for 11th in the tournament.
Only the top 30 FedEx Cup points earners from the BMW Championship will qualify for the season-ending tournament at East Lake.
Britain’s Tommy Fleetwood also jumped from 31st to 22nd in the rankings after finishing tied for fifth at eight-under.
Two-time major winner Justin Thomas entered the field in 30th place despite a disappointing week that left him well off the pace at two over par. 2023 Open champion Brian Harmon was a close call in 31st place.
