Right-handed pitcher Brett DeHeus has been claimed from the Miami Marlins via waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays.
He was immediately optioned to the Blue Jays’ Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo, New York.
Right-handed pitcher Yerry Rodriguez was also designated for assignment.
De Geus, 26, has appeared in 11 games for Miami and Seattle this season, spending most of the season in Triple-A Jacksonville and Tacoma.

He had a 5.60 ERA in both the majors and Triple-A this season, with a 7.9% walk rate, a 14.9% strikeout rate, and a 58.9% groundout rate in 47 appearances.

De Heus appeared in 58 MLB games for the Texas Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Mariners and Marlins, posting a 7.17 ERA with 47 strikeouts and a 53.6% groundball rate in 59 innings.
Rodriguez has a 15.43 ERA in four appearances for Toronto this season, striking out five in 4 2/3 innings while allowing nine runs (eight earned).
