The Montreal Canadiens acquired forward Patrick Ryne and a 2026 second-round draft pick from the Columbus Blue Jackets for defenseman Jordan Harris on Monday.
The trade sends the 26-year-old to a Montreal team that has finished last in the Atlantic Division for three straight seasons after losing in the 2021 Stanley Cup Final.
The Finnish native was limited to 18 games in the 2023-24 season due to a broken collarbone and the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program. He recorded six goals and three assists in his final season in Columbus.
The Blue Jackets acquired him from the Winnipeg Jets early in the 2020-21 season. Line was a rising star during his tenure in Winnipeg, with his best season coming in 2017-18 when he appeared in all 82 games, scoring a career-high 44 goals and 26 assists for a career-high 70 points.
Line appeared in 480 games for Winnipeg and Columbus, scoring 388 points (204 goals, 184 assists).
Harris, 24, played three seasons for the Canadiens, appearing in 131 games and recording 32 points (eight goals, 24 assists).
