Blue Ivy Carter is celebrating her 13th birthday with a major accomplishment: a nomination for the 56th Annual NAACP Image Awards. The young star was named among the honorees at the 56th annual awards ceremony alongside her mom, Beyoncé.
The NAACP Image Awards, announced Tuesday, recognize achievements in music, film, television and more. Beyoncé received three nominations for her chart-topping eighth album Cowboy Carter, including Outstanding Album, Outstanding Female Artist, and Outstanding Soul/R&B Song for ’16 Carriages.’
For Blue Ivy, this recognition marks her second NAACP Image Award. Her first win came in 2019 for her contribution to the track “Brown Skin Girl” from The Lion King: The Gift.
This year, she was nominated in the Outstanding Character Voice Over category for her role as Kiara in Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King. In the film, Blue Ivy voices Kiara, the daughter of Queen Nala and King Simba. Beyoncé reprises her role as Nala and Donald Glover returns as Simba.
Blue Ivy’s nomination puts her in respected company among other young stars, including Anthony B. Jenkins (The Deliverance), Skylar Aleece Smith (The Piano Lesson), and Leah Sava Jeffries (Percy Jackson and the Olympians).
The NAACP Awards will be broadcast live from the Pasadena, California Civic Center on February 22nd.
