Blake Lively recently took unprecedented action against her co-star Justin Baldoni.
After months of speculation about a feud between the actor and his lead role in this year’s film It Ends With Us, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni this week, accusing him of sexual harassment.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Lively claims that Baldoni created a hostile work environment on the set of her adaptation of the aforementioned book and later engaged in a campaign against her colleague.
Specifically, the document alleges that Baldoni caused Lively “severe emotional distress” as a result of his actions… which includes a discussion of Baldoni’s past “porn addiction” or “sexual conquests,” along with a discussion of “Blake’s sexual conquests” with women. “Showing nude videos or images of.” ”
At one point, Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, even attended a meeting of movie insiders to address these topics, according to the lawsuit.
According to TMZ, other topics included “no more mention of the cast and crew’s genitals, no more inquiries about Blake’s weight, and no more mention of Blake’s dead father.”
(Lively’s father passed away in 2021.)
In response to the lawsuit, TMZ reports that the above-mentioned meeting emphasized that “no more sex scenes, oral sex, or on-camera climaxes will be added by BL outside the scope of the script approved when BL signed on to the project.”
As previously explained, there was disagreement over the final cut of It Ends With Us (of which Lively served as a producer), and debate over how to market the film.
Lively claims Baldoni and others in his camp engaged in a campaign of “social manipulation” to “destroy” Lively’s reputation.
The lawsuit also includes text messages from Baldoni’s publicist to a studio publicist. “(Ms. Lively) wants to feel like she can be buried,” Baldoni says, “and we won’t be able to write, which will destroy her.”
Baldoni and Lively have never appeared on a red carpet together during It Ends With Us promotions, nor have they sat down for a joint interview.
Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, argued that Lively’s lawsuit was an attempt “to correct her negative reputation” and called it “false, outrageous, and intentionally obscene with the intent to cause public harm.”
Prior to the film’s release, Baldoni told Variety that when asked about It Starts With Us possibly being a sequel to the film based on the book of the same title, he and the production studio “don’t think about that far into the future.” “I didn’t even do it,” he said. “I’m trying to stay in the present as much as possible.”
