Former Highlanders flanker and Maori All Blacks captain Billy Harmon helped lead Yokohama Cannon Eagles to a convincing win over Urayasu D-Rocks in Japanese League 1.
The 30-year-old crossed the line in the 78th minute to give the D-Rocks a positive performance for Canon Eagles, who had two of six attempts.
Harmon had an eventful performance, recording 10 tackles, 2 line breaks, and 8 carries, and also received a yellow card in the 34th minute just before halftime.
The All Blacks XV representative finished off a beautiful grubber kick behind the full-back’s defensive line. Before Hamon, Junpei Ogura picked it up and resolutely tied the line.
The Canon Eagles did not start their Japan League One season as they would have liked, losing their first two games against the Kobelco Kobe Steelers and Toshiba Brave Lupus.
Yesterday’s win over the Urayasu D-Rocks will hopefully bode well for a Harmon team that will face the Shizuoka Blue Revs next week, having won all three of their games this season.
