President Biden urged his supporters to stand up to former President Trump at a campaign reception in Atlanta. That’s because the frontrunners from both parties face a rematch in November.
In a speech Saturday at Mary Mac’s Tea Room, Biden claimed Trump was only “running for revenge.”
“Everyone, Trump did not run to lead America. He is running for revenge,” Biden said Saturday, according to the full note. “And revenge is no way to lead a country.”
Biden, who traveled to Atlanta on Sunday to deliver a commencement address at Morehouse College, wooed Georgia voters in the state’s capital on Saturday, warning them that the “reckless” Trump is a threat to “democracy.” He also praised The Peach State’s voters for being the “reason” for his 2020 election victory.
The president, who won the state by a very narrow margin in 2020, praised the state’s voters and predicted that with their help he would secure the battleground state once again in November.
Biden added, “If you doubt the power of your vote, tell people to visit Georgia.” “What you have done is truly amazing. That’s why you are no joke. “Georgia is why I became President of the United States.”
But recent polls show Trump trailing in Georgia, a critical state for his re-election. A recent survey by the New York Times created more headaches for the Biden campaign, as it found Biden trailing the former president by 10 points in the state. That’s the second-highest margin among battleground states polled, behind Nevada’s 12-point gap.
Despite the numbers, Biden said, “I feel good about the state of the primary.” “There is a lot to do. We know it’s not over yet. But we know the race is close. “Polls vary from up to down to tied, but it’s hard to make any poll reasonable these days.”
He reiterated the importance of the upcoming election, saying Trump cannot return to the Oval Office and that “freedom” is at stake.
“We can’t have this guy as president,” Biden said. “Our children’s future depends on it. It’s not a joke. If you will allow me to make my point… We must win this race. “Not for me, but for America.”
