Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop — $751, $950
The Acer Nitro 5 is a good gaming laptop worth considering if you’re looking for value. It is equipped with internal hardware that is difficult to find at this price, including an 8-core 12th generation Intel processor, 16GB RAM, and an entry-level GPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card. These features work together to make your gaming experience immersive and smooth, and the 512GB solid-state drive provides plenty of space to store your favorite PC games. You also get an impressive 17.3-inch screen running at FHD and a 144Hz refresh rate, but the RTX 3050 may struggle without compromising on graphics settings.
MSI Bravo 15 — $800, or $1,000
The MSI Bravo 15 is probably one of the cheapest laptops that offers access to DLSS 3.0 as it is equipped with an entry-level graphics card en RTX 4050 from the latest generation of Nvidia GPUs. The screen is 15.6 inches and runs FHD resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. This is fine for the RTX 4050 and shouldn’t push the limits too much. You also get a really solid 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. This is expected considering how budget-oriented the laptop is, but it’s a bit low for a gaming laptop.
Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 – $900, previously $1,200
If you want something a little more powerful but still budget-friendly, this Acer Predator Helios Neo is the perfect combination. Especially since it runs the RTX 4050, which is an entry-level GPU. Provides access to DLSS 3.0. You also get a larger 16-inch screen with a whopping 165Hz refresh rate, although the resolution is in FHD. This is actually not a bad thing considering you are more likely to reach higher refresh rates at lower resolutions. Luckily, even for a budget gaming laptop, it comes with 16GB of DDR5 RAM, so running a lot of windows and apps shouldn’t be an issue. But in your ideal case, 512GB of storage could be a bit more.
Dell G16 Gaming Laptop — $1,300, originally $1,900
Being one of the best laptop brands, the Dell G16 gaming laptop is an attractive proposition. It is equipped with a 13th generation Intel Core i9 processor, 32GB memory, and 1TB SSD storage. What’s already good about storage and memory is that it also has an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card, which is adequate for most modern games. Perhaps the biggest highlight is the 16-inch QHD+ screen with 2560 x 1600 resolution and 165Hz refresh rate, which makes everything look super sharp. It fits all into a shell the same size as a 15-inch laptop, making it more portable than you might expect.
Alienware x14 R2 00 $1,500, previously $1,900
While there’s a lot of focus on bigger screens, there are plenty of great, smaller gaming laptops with powerful performance, too. For example, the Alienware X14 R2 has a 14-inch display, but can run a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and achieve an impressive 165Hz refresh rate. It also comes with an RTX 4060, which should be powerful enough to get you around 100 frames per second at medium settings at this resolution, but that can increase if you’re playing games running on DLSS 3.0. You’ll also be happy to know that it’s equipped with a whopping 32GB of DDR5 RAM, an impressive 1TB SSD, and an Intel Core i7-13620H processor that can easily handle most games and productivity tasks.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 – $1,600, previously $1,950
If you want one of the best deals when it comes to gaming laptops, the Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 is probably it, as it balances all the specs well. It’s running a solid 2K GPU, the RTX 4070, while also running a 16-inch 2K monitor, so you’ll never be overpowered or underpowered. The monitor can also achieve a 240hz refresh rate, which will be difficult to achieve without serious graphics degradation, but at least you have the option to prioritize what’s important. It also comes with one of the most powerful CPUs on the market, the Intel Core i9-13900H, so you could potentially use this laptop to stream to Twitch or YouTube.
Alienware m18 gaming laptop – $2,300, originally $2,700
One of the best gaming laptop brands, the Alienware m18 is an excellent gaming laptop if you’re looking for a desktop replacement. It has an AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX processor paired with 32GB of memory and 1TB SSD storage. There’s also an AMD Radeon RX 7900M graphics card, but the real highlight here is the massive 16-inch full WQXGA screen with 2560 x 1600 resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, and 3ms response time. This means it’s not the most portable of laptops, but it’s perfect if you don’t have the space (or inclination) for a desktop gaming PC. Alienware Cryo technology advanced cooling provides ample system stability while supporting Dolby Vision support, Dolby Atmos, a great keyboard, and more.
Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 9 gaming laptop — $1,786, $2,360
Equipped with a 13th generation Intel Core i9-14900HX processor with 32GB memory and 1TB SSD storage, the Lenovo Legion 7i Gen9 is off to a good start. I also have an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card, so everything is up to date. It comes with a 16-inch WQXGA screen with HDR 400 support, 100% sRGB, 500 nits brightness, 240Hz refresh rate, and 2560 x 1600. That means everything you play will look great. Other useful extras include a per-key RGB backlit keyboard, a fingerprint reader, and a 1080p full HD webcam. It’s sleek and light, as you’d expect from the manufacturer of the best thin and light gaming laptop. It’s ideal if you have ambitions to stream your gaming time.
