Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) thinks there’s a good chance Donald Trump will declare an early victory once the polls close this Election Day.
Appearing on CNN’s “The Source” on Tuesday, Sanders issued a dire warning to anchor Kaitlan Collins when she asked what would happen if Trump falsely declared himself the winner of the 2024 presidential election.
“It’s not a ‘what if’, Kaitlan. It’s not ‘what if’. “It will,” the senator said. “Everyone needs to know.”
Sanders went on to predict that Trump would rush to announce his victory before reminding his followers that “the only way” he could lose was voter fraud.
“That will happen.” The Vermont politician continued: “This is why he must lose. Because this is how democracy is undermined. ‘The only way I can lose is if there is fraud.’ Well, that means you can’t lose a legitimate election.”
“We have to be prepared for this,” Sanders said, adding that “many Trump voters are already convinced that only fraud can derail the candidate.”
Ahead of Election Day, Trump refused to make an explicit promise to concede if he actually lost. He also continued to claim that his 2020 primary against President Joe Biden was rigged, despite irrefutable evidence that there was no widespread election fraud.
Trump continued to get the message while he was in Palm Beach, Florida, to vote Tuesday morning. “If I lose the election, if it is a fair election, I will be the first to admit it,” he told reporters while at the polls.

Hours later, sowing doubt, the Republican took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to claim that “massive fraud” was taking place in Philadelphia.
