In the aftermath of Rohit Sharma’s team losing 3-1 in the India-Australia series, there is a lot of speculation about what the national team will do next. Several reports have predicted that restrictions could be placed on the length of stay for players’ families, as well as restrictions on baggage. Additionally, there were reports that coach Gautam Gambhir’s performance will be reviewed after the Champions Trophy.
If Cricbuzz’s report is found to be true, the BCCI has proposed appointing a new batting coach. According to a Times of India report, the BCCI is ‘seriously looking into’ the possibility of appointing domestic cricket stalwart Sitanshu Kotak as the new batting coach. Kotak is currently the head coach of India A.
Although Kotak never played an international match for India, he was a giant of domestic cricket, scoring 8061 runs in 130 first-class matches.
New revelations from the recent meeting between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), chief selector Ajit Agarkar, assistant coach Gautam Gambhir and Test captain Rohit Sharma continue to rock the Indian cricket fraternity. As the BCCI charts the future direction of Indian cricket, it has sought clarifications from the team management, especially on the recent results in Test cricket. With India staring at one of the lowest points in the country’s recent Test history, losses to Australia and New Zealand raise several questions.
According to a report by Dainik Jagran, one of the Indian team executives has flagged fat IPL pay checks as one of the reasons why certain players are not excelling in Test cricket.
According to the report, when the team management was asked about the reasons for Team India’s recent performance, one member cited bumper IPL contacts as one of the factors. It is said that because of these huge IPL salaries, some players do not give the necessary importance to Test cricket.
The BCCI has reportedly introduced several changes to help the team overcome this slump.
