ESPNcricinfo understands that the incident occurred between Faruque and Fahim on December 30, the opening day of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). ESPNcricinfo has learned that communication between Faruque and Fahim has been limited since November, but the pair have been the only ones at the helm in most aspects of BCB since joining the board. Since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, many of the BCB board members, including former president Nazmul Hassan, have disappeared.
“I wasn’t able to contribute as much as I wanted to,” Fahim said. Ekator TV. “I should have provided more information. I have spent 40-45 years in cricket. I wanted to make the cricket board more dynamic. We don’t talk about as many things as we used to. The president said his decision would be good for the country. I believe it’s good, I personally don’t know much about it because I’m the member secretary of BPL, but I couldn’t tell you my opinion.
“The BCB constitution allows the president to make unilateral decisions and report to the board after the fact. The president has the opportunity to make those decisions, but with so many people around him, it would be more dynamic to discuss them with others. “The lack of a standing committee has been a major factor limiting our work over the past four months.”
Fahim said he had been thinking about quitting his job as a coach for quite some time. He said he could have been useful as the board’s cricket operations chairman, adding that he had even told sports adviser Asif Mahmud of his wishes.
“I told other people (that I was thinking of quitting),” he said. “There was an opportunity to do the job properly. That doesn’t happen. The board chairman and I have come to the board because it is in the spirit of the student protests. We feel that because cricket operations is such an important department, one of us should be in charge.
“I would have nominated our board chairman to be chairman of cricket operations if he had not been chairman. I don’t think there is any other option left. I believe I am capable of running the department. I believe that if we don’t do the (sports) ministry we will do the right thing. “I feel very sad because I feel like I am not working.”
Fahim also said Jamuna TV In a separate interview Faruque made a “comment” about it. “I don’t want to comment specifically on that comment, but I was disappointed,” Fahim said. “Yesterday he talked about me in front of the board and (athletic department) officials. I was shocked, but it was clear that the board didn’t trust me. We’re both freshmen, so I can’t believe he would say that about me. I don’t know if it’s right.
“I think it’s better not to be on the board. The things that can be discussed outside the board about what should and shouldn’t happen can’t be done on the board. If you can’t do the work, it’s very important to be free to work on the board. .”
Faruque said on Sunday that he was confident the situation could be resolved after discussing the issue with Fahim. “If there is a complaint, the sooner it is dealt with, the better,” he said. “We are both new directors. Since we are doing most of the work, there may be some misunderstandings. Sometimes we have to make decisions quickly and we have not let you know. I discussed it with him (Fahim) and we will solve the problem. I can.”
Faruque added that he had told the board members to refrain from mentioning the Bangladesh men’s team. Because they feel it distracts the team and puts pressure on them. Despite being a former Bangladesh captain, Faruque provided limited insight into the team’s affairs during his tenure as president. This is a far cry from the days when Nazmul Hassan openly and regularly criticized the Bangladesh team as BCB president.
“I don’t want to comment much about the Bangladesh team,” Faruque said. “If you talk about the team too much, it becomes an unhealthy situation. Our common goal is the country and the Bangladesh team. Just keep that in mind and everything else is easy to solve. The rest is a personal matter. I hope this incident doesn’t happen. ” “There may be complaints in the future, but we will make sure it doesn’t become a big problem,” he said.
