Mott, who managed the Australian women’s team for eight years before moving to England, will work with Greg Shepherd at the 76ers, replacing Cameron White who was appointed Melbourne Renegades head coach earlier this year.
“I am delighted to rejoin the Sydney 76ers,” said Mott. “Having started my coaching journey in Sydney many years ago, it is a place that brings back great memories and a comfortable sense of familiarity, and I am looking forward to it.
“The idea of being an assistant to Greg Sifford, someone I admire immensely, was really appealing.”
Mott’s tenure as England’s white-ball coach got off to a bright start when they won the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, unifying the two World White-Ball Trophies, but it ended with a semi-final exit at the tournament earlier this year and a poor performance in the 2023 ODI tournament.
“We are thrilled that Motty has committed to the club for the next three years,” Sixers general manager Haynes said. “When we have the opportunity to bring a coach of Motty’s caliber to the team, it’s a natural fit. We know what a great addition he will be to our team.
“It goes without saying that his coaching resume speaks for itself. He has an incredible track record of success around the world and has proven that he knows what it takes to build and sustain a winning culture.
“Our club is in the safe hands of Greg Shipperd’s leadership and Charlotte Edwards’s women’s programme and we are delighted to add Motty’s experience to the group as we move forward.”
