Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane has finally responded to transfer rumors suggesting he could move to Manchester United in the summer.
Sane joined Bayern in 2020 after a highly successful spell at Manchester City, where he won two Premier League titles.
He was a regular starter for Bayern until Vincent Kompany was appointed manager. The former Belgium international has so far shown preference for other wide-ranging options, including Michael Olise, Zaman Musiala and Kingsley Coman.
This has led to speculation about Sane’s future at Bayern, especially considering his contract is set to expire at the end of this season.
Rarely does a player of Sane’s caliber and reputation emerge as a free agent and United are believed to be one of many parties looking to capitalize on this opportunity.
A previous report covered by The Peoples Person reported that the Red Devils had made inquiries about Sane. Old Trafford has been mentioned as a serious destination for the lightning-quick 28-year-old.
Arsenal are also said to be interested in Sane.
The Bayern star spoke to BILD and opened up about reports he could return to England.
“I am confident in myself, the situation and the club. “We have a transparent and comfortable exchange.”
“I feel really good. The conversations with Vinni (Kompany), Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are very good and reliable. That is why my thoughts are only on Bayern at the moment and we will see everything else in the coming weeks and months.”
“I can’t think of the topic (money) at all right now. And how much I make is not my top priority. To be honest, I never thought about that for a second.”
He said of his relationship with Kompany: “We actually both know each other very well. Under Vinnie we play a good attacking style of football. We are having a great time on the pitch under his leadership. It’s important to me and of course plays a role in my decisions.”
Sane added: “I will never sign with another club on January 1st or 2nd.” There is no need for hasty decisions.
On his return to the Premier League, he explained: “I have sympathy for the league and I still watch certain games on TV.” For me, the attraction lies in a club where you can play at your best, grow and win titles. Bayern has something like that. This is where my biggest challenges and goals lie.”
United will travel to Portman Road to face Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town on Sunday.
