Today at Tennocon 2024, Digital Extremes revealed a new gameplay trailer for Warframe: 1999, a narrative-driven spin-off quest for Warframe set in the late 1990s. The trailer showcased a series of tube-like action sequences and a new boss fight, the most dangerous of which might be an earworm that infects your brain in the real world during the fight.
The trailer begins in a desolate shopping mall with an arcade filled with old, dull computers and machines. A team of Protoframes, led by protagonist Arthur, are in pursuit of Dr. Entrati, who Warframe fans know as the first person to come into contact with the Void that gives power to the Tenno.
The trailer features several action sequences, highlighting the new Atomicycle vehicle, new weapons like the AX-52 rifle, and a fight against a massive tank set in late 90s nu-metal. We also meet Arthur’s teammates, including Amir the brainiac, Aoi the logistics expert, and Quincy the sniper, who uses the Cyte-09 Warframe for the first time in Warframe.
The trailer ends with the introduction of Technocyte Coda, an Infested version of the in-universe boy band On-lyne. The group is introduced to the backdrop of their “hit single” Party Of Your Lifetime, which is currently streaming on all major real-world streaming platforms.
Other updates coming to Warframe include new Ember and Rhino Hareum skins, a new questline called The Lotus Eater, and an animated short introducing the world of Warframe: 1999, created in collaboration with London-based art studio The Line.
Warframe is currently available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
