Lewandowski surprises Real Madrid twice in El Clasico 🌟
Barcelona fans have every reason to celebrate as Robert Lewandowski’s quick-fire double helped the team demolish Real Madrid in a memorable El Clasico. The win moved Barcelona six points clear at the top of the table, a statement made loud and clear.
Real Madrid are aiming to continue their historic unbeaten run and match Barcelona’s record of 43 games unbeaten. But those ambitions were dashed in a stunning second half. Real coach Carlo Ancelotti said, “To lose like this after such a run… “It’s hard,” he said with regret.
⚽ Rapid increase in the second half of the year
The first half was tight and goalless, but things quickly changed. Lewandowski broke the deadlock and scored in the 54th minute after receiving a smooth pass from Marc Casado. And just three minutes later, he surprised the Bernabeu crowd again by heading in Alejandro Balde’s accurate cross.
The veteran striker also almost scored a hat-trick. One attempt shook the woodwork, another soared right up. Meanwhile, Barcelona’s 17-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal scored the third goal to become the youngest scorer in El Clásico history. Raphinha sealed the deal by adding a cherry with a fourth lob.
Mbappe’s disappointing debut
It was a difficult night for Real’s new superstar Kylian Mbappe. On his El Clásico debut, he came close but was ruled out for offside twice and his third attempt was blocked by Inaki Pena. Despite his legendary performance against Barcelona for PSG, today was not his night.
Reflecting on the defeat, Ancelotti pointed out that although his team did their best in the first half, they were unable to match Barcelona’s pace and accuracy after the break. “They scored two quick goals and we couldn’t recover.”
Meeting youth and experience
Barcelona’s mix of young talent and seasoned pros seems to be the magic formula. The team under Hansi Flick relies on emerging stars such as Yamal, Casado and Balde, each playing a pivotal role. But leader Lewandowski, 36, shows no signs of slowing down. His La Liga tally currently stands at 14 goals in 11 games, proving he’s not done yet.
Flick’s pressure defense also frustrated Real, who repeatedly fell into the offside trap. Flick summarized it this way: “We play high. It may seem risky, but it works.”
