Deon Foree is hoping to be fit enough to play for DHL Stormers in their upcoming match against Sharks in Durban by the end of 2024.
The veteran forward underwent surgery after tearing his ACL while playing for the Stormers against La Rochelle in the Champions Cup in early April.
There were concerns the 37-year-old flanker would retire after a six-month absence was predicted, but Forry is optimistic he will make a full recovery and be ready to return at Kings Park on November 30.

“My target for my return is the Vodacom URC game (against the Sharks) but there is no rush. I will make sure I am 100 per cent ready before we play again,” Fourie said. Network 24. “I have never played this long due to an injury before.
“You grow as a person during your time alone, and you want to go back to show that you can still do it. Let’s see if the can is still there when I get back!
“I’ve been in this game for a long time and I’ve seen a lot of guys tear their ACLs. It’s a serious injury and it doesn’t take long. I knew it would take months of rehab. Time is the key.
“Everything is going well so far.”
“There are a lot of great young players developing at the Stormers. It will be a new challenge to compete against them, but I am not one to shy away from a challenge,” he added.
“Paul (de Villiers) had a great performance at the Currie Cup. I think we’ll see more of him this season. Devan Fuller and Lowe Nell are also doing well. Our young players are good.”
