BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 20. “Azerbaijan has officially applied for membership in BRICS. This is very important for us,” said Eldar Azizov, head of the Baku administration, at the plenary session “Map of the future. Solutions for cities leading in technological development” of the forum “Cloud Cities. Forum on the Future of BRICS Cities” held in Moscow. According to Trend,
Azizov, in his speech, thanked the Moscow administration for organizing and inviting the event. He emphasized that the process of dismantling industrial facilities in the city in connection with the COP29 in Baku has already been completed.
Azizov added that as a result of President Ilham Aliyev’s wise policies, Baku hopes to achieve a high level of development, like other regions of the country. Noting that the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan has increased by 40% since the beginning of 2024, Azizov stressed that COP29 is not a coincidence.
According to him, Baku is in a phase of rapid development and the city has many plans for the future. ПBefore the plenary session, Azizov also met with Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
The BRICS Cloud Cities Forum, held in Moscow’s Zaryadye Park in September, was attended by more than 30 countries from BRICS, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, Africa and the CIS.
