Baku, Azerbaijan, December 15. A total of 2.4 million tourists have visited Azerbaijan since the beginning of 2024, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency Kanan Guluzade said today at an event held at Shahdag Mountain Resort marking the results of the year and the start of winter tourism. According to him, compared to last year, this figure has increased by 27%.
Guluzade noted that population numbers are generally expected to reach 3 million in 2024. Based on current growth rates, this figure is expected to increase to 4 million per year by 2028.
For reference, the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan in 2023 was 2.08 million, an increase of more than 30.2% compared to 2022 (1.6 million).
The Advisor to the Chairman also reported that 24,519 commercial flights were carried out in Azerbaijan during the specified period, an increase of 18% compared to the previous period.
Additionally, the tourism accommodation and catering sector generated added value of 2.49 billion manats ($1.46), reflecting nominal growth of 11.3% from January to October.
