Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who recently won the ‘Future Leader of One ASIA’ award at the 22nd Unforgettable Gala, expressed immense pride in the global appeal of Indian films. He shares his joy in seeing Indian films breaking cultural, linguistic and demographic barriers and resonating with audiences around the world.
Khurrana was recognized at the prestigious event alongside celebrities such as Chinese-American actress Joan Chen and actor Hiroyuki Sanada, known for his roles in the Shogun and John Wick franchises. The actor thanked the judges and organizers in a video message, saying: “Celebrating India and its culture, stories and people fuels my creativity as an artist. I always wanted to show a different side of India and tell stories that aren’t often heard.”
He highlighted socially influential films of his choice throughout his career, including Vicky Donor, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhaan and Badhaai Ho. “These films were my way of contributing to positive social change. “I’m thrilled that audiences around the world are embracing these stories,” he said.
Khurrana also thanked Character Media and Asia Labs for producing the Unforgettable Gala, a platform that celebrates South Asian representation in global media. “There are no boundaries in movies now,” he said. “It unites us across cultures and languages. We are proud to see Indian cinema thriving in this space.” He dedicated the award to South Asian and Indian artists who dare to dream big and challenge the norms.
