Indian bowling all-rounder Axar Patel bagged the ‘Man of the Match’ medal after India’s 24-run win over Australia in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup Super Eight match on Monday. Axar helped India take control of the match in the 9th over of the second innings when he took Mitchell Marsh’s catch with his off-hand right hand. Kuldeep Yadav laid a long ball on the pads and Marsh pulled it behind square where Axar made no mistake in taking the catch. While awarding the medals, India fielding coach T Dilip praised the Men in Blue for their dedication in every catch. The medal was presented by Team India’s throwdown specialist Nuwan Seneviratne. T Dilip is what he described as the ‘unsung hero’ of the Indian cricket team.
“A phenomenal effort, guys. Well done everyone. We will always test the metal when fielding in the Caribbean… From the boundary to the infield, we filled every gap, but the masterpiece was the dedication on every catch we had. With this determination, whether it was adapting to the wind or the pace in the outfield, we were at our best and we clearly showed that we can dominate,” said T Dilip.
