MADISON, WI: Forward Madison FC is pleased to announce the return of veteran defender Jake Crull to the squad for the 2025 season, pending league and federation approval. Crull will once again be a key player in Forward Madison’s defensive framework as the team looks to build on its strong finish in 2024. This season will mark Crull’s third year with the Mingos and his experience and leadership on the pitch will be invaluable in 2025. work out.
“Jake has been incredibly consistent for us over the past two seasons,” said head coach and technical director Matt Glaeser. “He has great possession ability to break lines and drive forward to contribute to our attack while also providing a steady defensive presence. He is a professional who approaches this job in a great way and we look forward to having him back in 2025. “I’m very happy to come.”
Krul appeared in 22 games and started 19 last season, adding strength to the forward backline. His defensive abilities were on full display this year with 52 clearances, 20 interceptions and 19 tackles for victory. Crull’s expertise in thwarting opposition attacks has helped Mingos secure a league-high 11 clean sheets in 2025.
In addition to his superb defensive play, Crull also contributed offensively with one goal and two assists, showing his versatility and ability to impact the game at both ends of the pitch.
Before signing with Forward Madison FC, Jake’s professional career began in 2020 when he joined Union Omaha SC where he played for two seasons out of college, making 34 appearances. In 2022, Crull joined fellow USL League One team FC Tucson, making 30 appearances. Crull finally found his way to Madison and signed with the forward for 2023.
