The Canterbury jersey features new front-of-shirt sponsor Howden for the 2025 tour.
The new British and Irish Lions shirt for the 2025 tour of Australia has been revealed and features darker colors along with some innovative technology designed to enhance the fan experience.
The Canterbury jersey is a darker, deeper red than we’ve seen before. That’s because fans have suggested they’re less likely to wear the brighter red outside of match days, as explained at a launch event in London on Wednesday morning. Supporters can also scan tags linked to their shirts and join the Lions Clubhouse app, an exclusive community for inside content that launched today.

Sam Warburton, a two-time Lions captain, discussed the design from a player’s perspective and said the new shirt features a grandfather collar and a classic jacquard pattern woven into the shapes of the English rose, Scottish thistle, Irish shamrock and Welsh feather. This is a feature.
Global insurance broking group Howden has become the new front-of-shirt sponsor, marking Canterbury’s third successive shirt, a partnership that began 65 years ago with the 1959 tour of New Zealand.

“The Lions are there for their fans and they missed so much on the last tour to South Africa. Because it is a proud rugby nation. It’s really interesting that every jersey sold has this little chip built into it and you can connect it to an app on your phone. What’s more special about the Lions than any other uniform is the memories. You go on one of these tours every four years. The app displays photos, memories, songs, and news. This is connectivity – fan engagement – at the heart of Lions rugby!”
Coach Andy Farrell, who begins his role in earnest after the Autumn Nations series against Ireland, said, “Expectations for next season are starting to build. jersey Launching will only add to that. That applies to me, to all rugby fans, and to everyone who plays for a place in a touring team.
“I know how special the Lions are. jersey It’s up to the players who are lucky enough to wear this piece and add years of history and fame to it. It also provides a special place for Lions fans around the world to connect with us and become part of our team by supporting us in the same red. jersey. I am sure they will love this new design and I look forward to witnessing the power of the Red Sea once again in Australia.”
