“Molineux suffered an acute rib fracture after being struck in the chest by a pitch while batting last week,” a CA statement said. “Harris aggravated a calf injury she sustained while preparing for The Hundred and the upcoming season. She is currently undergoing a progressive rehabilitation and (a) return to play programme.”
Australia will play three T20Is against New Zealand from September 19 to 24 before heading to Bangladesh for the T20 World Cup starting on October 3.
Left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Molineux returned to the Australian squad in February for the first time since 2021 due to injury. She returned for the one-off Test against South Africa in Perth and was named man of the series after taking six wickets at 8.33 in the T20Is against Bangladesh. Earlier in the tour, she returned to the ODI team and took three from 10.
Apart from Harris and Molineux, the only Australian contracted players not playing in the Hundred Series or Australia A Series are captain Alisa Healey and fast bowler Darcy Brown, who is continuing his recovery from a stress fracture in his foot.
Internationally, Australia have another busy season ahead of them. They host India at home in early December before heading to New Zealand for three ODIs. There are also the Ashes in a variety of formats, with a day and night Test at the MCG in January before returning across the Tasman in late March. There is also the WBBL, which begins a week after the T20 World Cup, and the WPL, which is scheduled to start in early March.
