India will play two days of pink-ball warm-up matches ahead of the day-night Test against Australia in Adelaide, where they will face the Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra.
The brightly lit matches will be played at Manuka Oval on November 30 and December 1, between the first and second Tests.
In the past two seasons, the Prime Minister’s XI has been played over four days, with the 2022 fixtures against West Indies (also a day-tournament) and 2023 fixtures against Pakistan, and is traditionally played over a limited number of overs, but the fixture against India has been shortened to just two days.
Adelaide then played the first Test of a four-match series, which was completed despite the challenges of COVID-19 border closures. The series will begin in Perth and be played over five Tests.
The Prime Minister’s XI has been a powerful force in recent seasons, effectively carrying Australia A. Matt Renshaw has had a particularly fruitful spell in the last two matches, scoring 81, 101 and 136 against West Indies and Pakistan.
India will hold an internal warm-up at the WACA from November 15-18 ahead of the first Test on November 22. They will arrive in Australia after completing a three-match home Test series against New Zealand.
The India A team will tour Australia from late October, playing two matches in four days at Mackay and Melbourne.
