Glenn Maxwell had one of his worst IPL performances as he dropped himself midway through the tournament, forcing coach Andy Flower and captain Faf du Plessis to make a difficult decision that they ultimately could have done anyway. He was later recalled and dropped again, registering scores of 0, 3, 28, 0, 1, 0, 4 at a strike rate of 97.29. But like the mercurial Maxwell, he was summoned for RCB’s must-win match against CSK and helped his side qualify for the playoffs. He hit 16 off 5 balls in the last two overs, getting 1 for 25, including the key wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad off the first ball of the innings. This boost in confidence may just be what sparks him ahead of the playoffs and the T20 World Cup.
