As the delivery deadline for the Perth Test approaches, Rohit has conveyed to the BCCI and selectors that he may not be part of the series opener.
Following India’s recent 3-0 defeat against New Zealand, Rohit was reportedly considering traveling to Australia to train with the team and have a child.
It is not yet clear whether he will travel to Perth in time to attend the first Test.
Gill, who batted twice on Friday, made 28 in his first over before being caught in the ditch off a back-of-length delivery from Navdeep Saini. He scored an unbeaten 42 on his return to the crease.
