Jasprit Bumrah’s massive impact in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy has prompted Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to jokingly propose legislation to force India’s pace spearheads to bowl “left-handed or a step off” against the home team.
Widely regarded as the world’s best fast bowler across all formats, right-hander Bumrah has been a thorn in the side of Australian batsmen and has taken 30 wickets in four Tests.
Albanese, who hosted India and Australia here on Wednesday ahead of the crucial fifth Test, spoke glowingly of Bumrah.
“We can pass a law here that he has to bowl left-handed or a step off. Every time he comes to the bowl, it’s very exciting,” Albanese said. Sydney Morning Herald.
“The Australian and Indian teams have already given us an incredible summer of cricket,” Albanese later wrote on social media.

“When the fifth Test begins on Friday, the SCG will be a sea of pink in support of the great work of the McGrath Foundation. “Go to Australia!” he added.
Coach Gautam Gambhir spoke on behalf of the Indian team.
“Australia is a beautiful country to travel in, but it is a difficult country to travel in. The crowd was absolutely amazing. There is still another Test match left. “I expect to be able to provide enjoyment to the audience,” he said.
Australian captain Pat Cummins, who played a huge part in ensuring his team’s 2-1 series lead, said last week: “The last week in Melbourne is one of the best Test matches we have ever been a part of. “In five days, I’ve never seen anything like it,” Cummins said.
“I’m looking forward to this week. It’s the decider. This is your chance to win the series. “I can’t wait.”
The result of the Sydney Test will determine whether Australia reclaim the trophy after more than a decade.
In Melbourne, Bumrah became the fastest Indian pacer to reach 200 wickets, achieving the feat in his 44th match.
