ash Even if you’re someone who plays a lot of survival games, this can be a very difficult game to get into. How you start this game is very important because if you don’t know what to do, your chances of survival are low.
Our complete beginner’s guide will go over everything you need to know to get started with the game. So without further delay, let’s get right into it.
Complete Beginner’s Guide
character generation
Before entering the game, you must create a character. Asuka has two characters, a male character and a female character. The male character is Ragnar and the female character is Aska. They both have different stats, so whichever you choose will determine which stats you prefer.
Ragnar is a powerful warrior with extremely high vitality, strength, and cold resistance. It is also important to note that Ragnar requires more food and water than Aska.
Aska, on the other hand, has better stamina, agility, intelligence, and perception. She also needs less food and water to survive the game.
So which one should you choose?
Well, both are very good in their own way. If you value hand-to-hand combat and high resistance, Ragnar is for you. For players who prefer ranged weapons and good mobility, Aska is a better choice. You can level up your chosen character in the game.
You can also change your character’s appearance in the character creation area.
Basic needs (food, water, warmth)
As soon as you start the game, you will see three icons on the left side of the screen that show how well your character is fed, hydrated, and warmed. Ideally, you will want to keep each of these full, as your survival depends on it.
So how do you keep it full?
food
Food is an essential resource in Asuka that must be consumed regularly to stay healthy. Since you can’t hunt in the beginning, most of the food you eat must be raw.
There are many foods in Asuka that can be eaten raw. All you have to do is collect them and eat them from your inventory. Grapes are a good example of this because they can be picked directly from the vine. You can check out our guide Asuka’s best early game food For more information.
Foods like grapes can only be stored in your inventory for a short period of time, as food in this game can spoil if not stored properly.
water
Just like food, you need a lot of water to stay well hydrated in this game. In this game, you can find water through natural water sources or by collecting it yourself.
There are many different natural water sources in this game. Natural water collectors are a prime example of how they can provide the right amount of water.
In addition to natural resources, you can also build structures that can collect water for you. The first water structure you can build is the Rain Collector. The Rain Collector will usually provide you with enough water to survive. Of course, as more villagers join your clan, you will need more water sources.
In this game, you can store water or drink it directly from the source.
warmth
Asuka’s last basic need is warmth. To stay warm in this game you need fire and shelter to keep you warm.
The first structure you can build for a fire is the Simple Fire. As the name suggests, this is a basic fire that will keep you warm when you have it next to you. Simple Fire is a single-use structure, so once the fire goes out, you will need to build another structure. If you want a more permanent option, you can choose a luxury campfire.
For shelter, you can start by building a basic shelter. Enough to sleep under the roof. You can unlock and build much better shelters later in the game.
base construction
Now that your basic survival needs are out of the way, it’s time to build a base.
When it comes to a base, the first thing to consider is where you want to build it. Location is very important when building a base. Because poor positioning can cause great damage later in the game.
The most important thing to consider here is what resources are nearby your base. Having resources nearby can make your life a lot easier in the beginning and save you a lot of time. Additionally, it is important to look at how close the enemies are to your location. Enemies should not be too far away, as they may be able to help you obtain very valuable items.
Once you are satisfied with the location of your base, you can begin construction. Most of your initial structures will be essential resources that are absolutely necessary for survival. Structures like Furnaces and Forges are good examples of early game structures that can help you advance your game further.
Resident Recruitment
Aska allows you to build your own village, and to do so you will need villagers.
You can obtain villagers using the Eye of Odin construct. To use it, you must first build it and place it where your base is located.
When you open the Eye of Odin, you will see 5 empty boxes with activations on the right. To use the Eye of Odin, you will need 5 Jotun Blood, a valuable item that can be found throughout the game map. There are two ways to obtain Jotun Blood.
The first is to collect the sparkly blue crystals you’ll occasionally come across. These crystals can be collected by climbing up and pressing the collect button.
Additionally, you can mine Jotun Blood from bluish rocks. The image above shows how it looks in game. To mine in this game you will need a pickaxe, which is a craftable tool in this game.
If you collect Jotun Blood and place it in the Eye of Odin, the game will provide you with two different villagers, and you must select one to make them a part of your village. You can check the various attributes that each resident has. Hover your mouse over a property to see what that property does.
accepting villagers
In this game, it is your responsibility to accommodate the villagers you recruit. You are responsible for their shelter, food and water. Accommodating early villagers is fairly easy since you don’t need that many resources. However, it will become more difficult later on as your base will need better structures to handle the growing population.
Recruited villagers can be integrated into society and help with various tasks around the village. Take blacksmithing for example, Aska has a very tedious blacksmithing process. Villagers you recruit can learn blacksmithing and take on the role of blacksmith. Eventually, you will be able to recruit enough villagers to handle all the tasks your village needs.
A good start in Aska will help make the transition to the later stages of the game much easier. If you’re new to Aska, check out the following guide: How to do blacksmith work in Asuka.
