Apple today announced that it will train all Apple Developer Academy students and mentors in skills and tools that leverage artificial intelligence (AI). Apple Developer Academy graduates will also have the opportunity to participate in this training. The new core curriculum will be available to thousands of students and graduates across 18 developer academies in six countries. The Academy continues to increase opportunities for developers, designers, and entrepreneurs looking to launch careers in the growing iOS app economy and beyond.
A dedicated curriculum on AI joins the Academy program as a foundational skill, expanding on essential competencies in coding, technical skills, design and marketing available globally and enabling students to learn critical skills that can contribute to local businesses and communities. Our goal is to help. The Apple Developer Academy curriculum also integrates Apple’s values throughout the course, encouraging students to design inclusively and make a positive impact on the world.
“At Apple, we view coding as a universal language and believe we can give developers, creators and entrepreneurs around the world the tools and technology to create amazing experiences,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. . “With the introduction of a curriculum dedicated to AI and other emerging technologies, I look forward to seeing what our students will build to share with their communities and the world,” she said.
Starting this fall, all Apple Developer Academy students will benefit from a custom curriculum that teaches them how to build, train, and deploy machine learning models across Apple devices. Courses include the fundamentals of AI technologies and frameworks. Core ML and the ability to deliver fast performance on Apple devices Provides guidance on how to build and train AI models from scratch. Students learn through a guided curriculum and project-based assignments that include support from hundreds of mentors and more than 12,000 Academy alumni worldwide.
The introduction of new Apple technologies and APIs announced at WWDC24 gives students even more access to tools to build great projects and apps. It includes Xcode 16, which sets a new standard for developer productivity. These features and performance improvements also include Swift Assist, which acts as a companion for all of a developer’s coding tasks and allows students to easily explore new frameworks and experiment with new ideas. Swift 6 also introduces new features to improve code clarity and make concurrent programming easier.
Apple is involved at every step of the student journey, whether you’re exploring the fundamentals of app development in Apple’s global Foundations programs, improving your skills in Apple Developer Academies, or taking your apps to the next level.
