An Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury fight is one step closer and could happen at Wembley Stadium this summer.
Eddie Hearn has revealed he wants Joshua to return in May or June and has booked Wembley for a potential marquee fight with Fury.
But Hearn admits it is still unclear what Fury wants after losing in straight sets to Oleksandr Usyk.
When asked if a Wembley date would be possible if Fury wants to fight Joshua, Hearn said: “Yes, we are hoping to be back in the ring in May or June. In the end, it doesn’t really matter if it comes in July.
“I think it’s still up to Tyson Fury, where he is mentally and what he wants to do until the loss is confirmed, that’s what we can really find out.
“Because when he looks at the options, what else will he do and who else will he fight?”
Joshua, who has not fought since being knocked out by Daniel Dubois last September, posted a photo of Fury on his Instagram with the caption, “Looking for this guy.”
Speaking at the Ring Awards, Hearn added: “Everything I’ve seen on AJ’s social media, especially in the last hour, has been very encouraging.
“He’s not really the one calling anyone, but he’s definitely calling him out. He’s calling out Tyson Fury.
“That’s the fight he wants. I keep saying there are two fights: Daniel Dubois or Tyson Fury.
“The world heavyweight title is what he (Joshua) wants, but of course it’s a fight Fury has to land on Anthony Joshua’s resume.
“And obviously that needs to be communicated to the British public as well.
“I think the real key to this is Tyson Fury. He’s three weeks away from losing and is probably still upset and reflecting on that loss. We’ll have to see if he wants to fight again.”
Joshua: I’m aiming for Fury and I want to finish the game quickly.
Anthony Joshua to Ring Magazine…
“After my last race, I took some time off to heal my body, which I am still working on, and I also turned down some business opportunities to focus on a sport that was less taxing on me physically and mentally.
“I always left with a great family and it feels good to be back in 2025.
“That’s the fight I want to see (Joshua vs. Fury). I want to make that fight because I’m a boxing fan.
“When I’m at the local gym, everyone asks me. The reason I decided to do something interesting (on social media) is because I don’t have many years left ahead of me. I have more years left ahead of me. .
“So what I want to do is achieve big results and make an impact.
“Become some weird and wonderful character, have fun and have some great fights while we’re at it. Tyson Fury is one of them.
“Every time I see people they say, ‘When you fight Fury?’ The Irish community, the English community, the Nigerian community all ask the same question.
“As a fighter, it’s up to me to deliver. That has to happen this year.”
