Anthony Joshua is pushing for a fight with Tyson Fury in 2025 as he vows to continue boxing following his crushing loss to Daniel Dubois last September.
Former world heavyweight champion Joshua suffered his fourth career defeat by knockout to teammate Britt Dubois in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium.
However, the 35-year-old appears not to be considering retirement and is looking forward to his long-awaited showdown with Fury. Fury was recently defeated for the second time in Saudi Arabia by Oleksandr Usyk.
“I’m targeting Tyson Fury in 2025,” said Joshua, who traveled to meet Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
Recalling Dubois’ fight, he added: “It makes you hungry and makes you want to work harder. Time is of the essence and time is limited, so you want to do more.”
“Looking back, I think I could have done more in 2024. I have another opportunity to do more in 2025 and I will not miss any opportunity that comes my way.
“I should have won, but I didn’t, and I’m going to go again.
“My life has its ups and downs, so I have to get used to turbulent times and continue to ride the waves.
“I can’t stop now. I have to keep going until I reach my destination.”
speaking sky sports After Fury lost to Usyk on December 21, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn said: “This is definitely Fury’s only fight and, barring the Dubois rematch, it’s definitely AJ’s only fight.
“Has there ever been a better time? Both of them are losing at the end of their careers.
“There are two games in 2025, one at Wembley and one in Riyadh.”
