Remedy announced that Annapurna will co-finance Control 2 and will produce Remedy IP for TV and film.
According to a statement on Remedy’s official website, Annapurna will be contributing financially to the development of Control 2.
The company will also bring Remedy IP, including Control and Alan Wake, to “film, TV and beyond.”
Commenting on the deal, communications director Thomas Puha said, “First and foremost, it means Remedy has the ability to make Control 2 the game we want it to be, and now we have a great partner to expand the IP into other mediums.”
Puha also announced that Remedy will continue to publish Control 2 itself, despite the game being published by Annapurna.
“The Control 2 development team is working really hard on the game,” he added. “We know you’ve been eagerly awaiting news about the game (and Condor!), but you’re going to have to wait a little longer for that.”
“We’re thrilled by the opportunity to expand the Alan Wake story and the entire Remedy Connected Universe beyond games, working closely with games, film, TV, and other media to build on a single, unified vision,” said Sam Lake, Remedy’s creative director.
“I believe Annapurna is the perfect partner to help us realize our dreams.”
“This deal with Remedy is not just about adapting a great game, it’s about breaking new ground in how we can work together,” said Hector Sanchez, Annapurna’s President of Interactive and New Media.
“By supporting Remedy’s transition to self-publishing, we are placing our trust in their vision. We know from experience that Remedy is a first-class game development partner, and we are excited to share their work with a wider audience by bringing the Control and Alan Wake universes to film, television, and beyond.”
