Sen. Andy Kim (D-N.J.), who famously cleaned up trash after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, said he was concerned it was being “documented.”
Kim joined CNN’s Dana Bash on Sunday’s ‘State of the Union’ and recalled the day as it approaches its fourth anniversary.
“I mean, we saw with our own eyes in Congress what the American people saw, what people around the world saw, and the idea that it was being covered up and the idea that the people who attacked the Capitol rioted. “He is being talked about as a ‘liberator’ and a prisoner who is now being treated unfairly,” Kim emphasized to the media site.
“We are a country governed by the rule of law… and it really breaks my heart,” he continued.
Rep. Kim, who has been representing New Jersey since 2019, was elected to the Senate in this election.
As President-elect Trump prepares to return to power, there are concerns about what bold actions Trump, his administration, and his supporters will take.
Trump has vowed to seek revenge against his political enemies, including those who appeared before a House select committee on January 6 to investigate their role in the attack.
Rep. Kim said it was unfortunate that rioters destroyed the Capitol and attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
He said, “This is a truly great country, but that day we faced such a sad moment.” “We must work to prevent something like this from happening again. But unfortunately, we see another lesson that many people are taking away.”
