Croatia and Albania drew 2-2 on Wednesday in Hamburg, Germany, in the first meeting between two Balkan teams at Euro 2024.
Croatia tried to set the pace from the beginning, but it was Albania’s Kazim Rac who scored the first goal in the 11th minute of the first half by heading a cross from the right side.
Andrej Kramaric pulled Croatia back about 30 minutes into the second half, and just two minutes later, Klaus Gyasula’s own goal gave Croatia a 2-1 win.
Gjasula redeemed himself by scoring Albania’s equalizer in extra time.
As a result, Croatia and Albania lost to Spain and Italy, respectively, in their first match, putting them in a precarious situation in Group B.
