Many young players dream of playing for Liverpool and believe that doing so will guarantee them a long career in football, but one former Red was not to be.
After signing for Derry City, Andre Wisdom said (via BBC Sport): “The will was always there, but sometimes it didn’t seem right.”
“Perseverance, mindset, keep going. Keep training. That’s what got me here. I’m proud to be back playing full-time football. I can now say I have a job again.”

What makes this move notable is that the defender has been without a club for the past four seasons after being stabbed in 2020 while his watch was stolen.
A part-time opportunity had been offered to Warrington Town, but a move to the League of Ireland Premier Division club means full-time football is finally back.
With 22 appearances for the Reds, scoring one goal and providing two assists, the defender has proven himself to be a versatile member of Brendan Rodgers’ defence during his time at Anfield.

After spells at Norwich and West Brom in the Premier League, the academy graduate moved to Derby County in 2017, where he spent four seasons before injuries sidelined him.
