Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran is doubtful for the one-off Test match against New Zealand after suffering an injury on Sunday.
The 22-year-old opening batsman injured his ankle during the team’s final practice session ahead of Afghanistan’s first-ever Test match against New Zealand, which begins on Monday.
“Ibrahim suffered an ankle injury in today’s practice session. But I’m not 100 percent sure what will happen tomorrow. We will see what happens with him,” Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi said in his pre-match press conference.
Zadran played seven of Afghanistan’s nine Tests. He scored his maiden century in this format against Sri Lanka in February this year.
Afghanistan are already playing without starting spinner Rashid Khan.
Continued rain has ruined preparations for this historic Test between Afghanistan and New Zealand.
